1757282.binGovernor Sarah Palin announced today that she would not be seeking re-election as governor of Alaska and that she would be stepping down at the end of the month. She will be transferring power to Lieutenant Govern Sean Parnell. Palin’s term was not set to end before another year, but rumors in the Republican Party place her as one of the most likely to run for the GOP presidential nomination for 2012. Palin cited not wanting to continue to engage in “political bloodsport” as criticism of her governorship in Alaska mount since the 2008 campaign where she ran as John McCain’s running-mate for the White House.
